Prophecy keyboard makes no sound after a MIDI setup

The keys still transmit MIDI, but the Prophecy itself is silent.

Fast answer

Check GLB-8 [MIDI] → Local. Set it to ON to reconnect the keyboard to the internal sound engine when you are playing the Prophecy directly.

Fastest check and exact settings

  1. Open GLB-8 [MIDI] and inspect Local Control.
  2. If you are playing without a sequencer echoing notes back, set Local to ON.
  3. Play a key, then check the volume and audio/headphone connection if the instrument remains silent.

Diagnose it

Is Local set to OFF?

Yes: Set Local to ON for direct keyboard playing.

No: Check audio/headphone connections and Master Volume as Korg's troubleshooting table advises.

How to test

The keyboard plays the Prophecy's internal sound engine directly.

Why this happens

With Local OFF, the keyboard is disconnected from the tone generator while MIDI OUT continues to transmit.

If it still doesn’t work

Recheck the physical MIDI direction and the exact source device setting. If this behavior differs on your hardware, keep the model/revision and setup details for a correction report.
